Exam & Cleaning

The Canadian Dental Association recommends getting your teeth professionally cleaned at least once a year, more often if needed. Professional cleaning removes plaque and tartar from your teeth and above your gum line, where brushing and flossing don’t reach.

Our preventative dentistry services start with professional cleaning but also include scaling, polishing, oral cancer screening, fluoride treatment and x-ray diagnosis of decay and injury.

Regular professional cleaning is vital to preventing decay. Call us today to book a cleaning.

Dental Fillings

A dental filling, is a way to restore a tooth when there is a loss of structure, usually due to dental caries or dental trauma.
The composite resin restoration restores the appearance, integrity and function of a natural tooth.

Composite resin does not contain any mercury and is offered in a variety of shades to match the color of your natural teeth.

Root Canal

Root canal treatment is how we save a tooth that is in danger of being lost to infection. When a tooth is damaged, the soft inner tissue is exposed to possible infection.

To prevent this from happening, or to treat it after it happens, we recommend root canal treatment.

Crown / Bridge

If your tooth is damaged but not lost, a crown can be used to restore its shape, appearance and function. You may need a crown if you have a root canal, a large filling in a tooth or a broken tooth.

A crown, also called a cap, is a hollow, artificial tooth used to cover a damaged or decayed tooth. The crown restores the tooth and protects it from further damage. Crowns can also be used to cover a discoloured or misshapen tooth. A tooth that has been fixed with a crown looks and works very much like a natural tooth.

A bridge, also called a “fixed bridge” or a “fixed dental prosthesis,” is a dental restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth consists of several units, known as bridge abutments, attached together to fill up to the edentulous space. The bridge will prevent the movement of remaining teeth, improve chewing function, promote digestion and restore the harmony of the smile and aesthetics.

Wisdom Teeth

When wisdom teeth are aligned, they function properly and the gums are healthy, they do not need to be removed. Unfortunately, in most cases this does not occur. When they are incorrectly positioned the potential for periodontal disease and dental caries are higher. Their extraction is then recommended.

These poorly positioned teeth can cause many problems. When they are partially erupted, the opening around the tooth allows bacteria to grow and will eventually cause an infection (abscess). The pressure of the erupting wisdom tooth is a minor factor for misaligned teeth.

Do you often wake up with a stiff or painful jaw? Do you often get headaches or neck aches and are unable to determine the reason? Do you grind your teeth or clench your jaw in your sleep or during the day ? Does your jaw crack when you eat or open your mouth?

These are common symptoms for temporomandibular joint (TMJ). TMJ is an inflammation of the temporomandibular joint, the joint between your jawbone and your skull. You can feel this joint on your cheek just below and slightly in front of your earlobe.

If you are suffering from chronic jaw pain and/or headaches, you may have TMJ. Call us to book an examination.

Dental Implant

The dental implant is an artificial root made of titanium, which is inserted into the jaw to replace the root of a tooth. After healing, which takes a variety of time, the implant is ready to receive the restoration.

We can insert a bridge, denture or crown either permanent or removable. Dental implants are suitable for people in good health who have healthy gums and bone of adequate mass and resistance.

The partial denture is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It is custom made from precise dental impressions. It consists of a metal base on which acrylic teeth are placed. To help retain the prosthesis, clasps from the metal base will attach to the adjacent natural teeth.

Commonly called denture, the complete prosthesis replaces all the teeth on the upper or lower jaw. It consists of artificial teeth mounted on an acrylic support that covers the residual gum and the palate (in the upper jaw). It is held in place by succion, with the oral mucosa providing the seal. Nowadays, complete dentures are the last resort.
